Talk about attending an activity alone

Talk about a time when you attended an event or activity alone for the first time.

Describe why you decided to go, how you felt beforehand, what happened there, and what you learned from the experience.

  • identify the event or activity and explain why you went alone;
  • describe how you felt before the experience; and
  • recount what happened and finish with a reflection or lesson.

Tell one specific past story in a clear sequence rather than speaking about attending activities in general.

A memorable story needs a clear sequence, specific detail, and reflection.

Speaking Task 2 tests whether you can choose a relevant past experience, organize it for a listener, use concrete language, and explain why the event mattered within a 60-second response.

1

Build a clear timeline

Set up the event quickly, then move through the decision, your feelings, what happened, and the outcome in order.

2

Use story-specific detail

Name a concrete place, action, or reaction so the listener can follow this experience rather than a general opinion.

3

Finish with meaning

Use the final seconds to say what you learned or why the first-time experience remained important to you.

Five beats: setting, decision, feeling, event, lesson.

  1. Choose one tellable memory.During preparation, pick an experience with a clear beginning, one or two useful details, and a result you can explain quickly.
  2. Map five short beats.Note the event, why you went alone, how you felt, the main action, and the reflection. Those beats become your speaking order.
  3. Signal movement through time.Use past-tense verbs and simple links such as at first, once I arrived, after that, and in the end.
