Predict what will happen at a bike repair station

Two cyclists stand beside a bicycle at a public repair station while one points to the tools under dark rain clouds.
Study the whole scene before you start preparation.

Two cyclists have stopped beside a public bicycle repair station on a wet sidewalk. One is holding the bicycle while the other points to the tools, and dark rain clouds are overhead.

Predict what will probably happen next to the cyclists and the bicycle. Explain which visible clues support your predictions.

  • make several realistic predictions about different parts of the scene;
  • link each prediction to a visible person, object, or weather clue; and
  • use clear future and possibility language to explain likely results.

Do not only describe the current scene. Build each idea as a visible clue, a realistic prediction, and a likely result.

A strong Task 4 response treats the picture as evidence, not a licence to guess.

Speaking Task 4 tests whether you can notice useful visual clues, turn them into realistic future events, and explain the connection clearly enough for a listener to follow.

1

Make more than one prediction

Cover the cyclists, the bicycle and tools, and the approaching weather instead of stretching one idea for the full minute.

2

Point to visible support

Connect each future event to a specific clue such as the pointed tool, the wet pavement, or the dark clouds.

3

Explain the likely result

Move beyond what may happen next and explain the sensible result for the bicycle or the people.

Find the clue, state the prediction, explain the result.

  1. Scan for three clue groups.Notice the cyclists and tools, the bicycle, and the wet setting with rain clouds and nearby shelter.
  2. Build short C → P → R chains.Name the clue, say what will probably happen, and add the likely result before moving to another part of the scene.
  3. Keep every future event realistic.Prefer ordinary next steps supported by the picture over dramatic events that the listener cannot trace to a visible detail.
